Laura Garcia Martin
"I make art to channel diverse aspects of everyday life.
I am currently working on a project called ‘Microworlds’. It is a series of paintings that explores the different social environments in which I am immersed.
It is the world I know through personal experience, and this involves reflections on who I am, what I do, and why I am the way I am.
I use drawing as part of an integrated practice that encompasses printmaking, collages and paintings.
I paint from the perspective of the outsider, and in exhibiting my work, I feel art to be my first language and my mother tongue. I fight against the canvas, destroying and building until the definitive idea emerges."
